    He began his actor’s career in 1974 in the Altai Shuekshin theatre of Barnaul, and then belonged to the companies of the Chekhov Theatre in Pavlodar and the Russian Korolenko Theatre in Izhevsk.

    In 1994 he graduated from the Higher School of Dramatic Art within the Russian Academy of Theatre majoring in Management of Theatre, was awarded the highest qualification category and had a training contract in the USA.

    He was a producer of more than 20 productions and important theatrical projects like «The Young Moscow Stars» and «The Siberian Transit».

    Since October 1999 A. Kulyabin has been the manager of the «Red Torch» Theatre in Novosibirsk.

    Under his direction the theatre came out of unsuccessful economic situation, and also carried out a lot of large art projects: from Russian and foreign tours up to realization of scale performances complicated in staging.

    Leading directors, artists and choreographers of Russia work on the stage of the "Red Torch" by his invitation.

    In 2001 he organized a mobile festival "Siberian Transit" — the largest theatrical forum beyond Urals Mountains, recognized at the International festival "Dyagilev’s seasons: Perm — Petersburg — Paris" as the best producer project in the field of culture and art (May, 2005). "Siberian Transit" revived tour movement of the theatres of all Siberia and became the main step in creation of united cultural space of one of the major country regions.

    In 2004 the "Red Torch" represented Russian-German project "Dostoevsky-trip" by the play of V. Sorokin on the stages of Munich and Berlin in the frames of the International festival of the brightest theatrical achievements "Days of Russian culture in Germany".

    In 2004 and 2005 Alexander Kuljabin assisted in the organization of tours of two theatres of the near abroad (Kirghizia and Uzbekistan) across Siberia in the frames of the program of state and public support of Russian theatres of the CIS countries and Baltic under patronage of the President of Russian Federation.

    In 2005 Kuljabin was awarded with the prize of Novosibirsk theatrical contest “Paradise” for the best artistic-production project of the season — performance of Italian director «Richard III». The same year the theatre toured to Germany and gets great success.

    In 2006 under Kuljabin’s invitation the director from England cooperated with the theatre. The result of this work - the performance "Portia Caughlan" was successfully presented on the stage of the Center named after Vs. Meierkhold in the frames of the Festival of modern British dramatic art (the joint project of the Festival of modern play "New drama" and the British Council).

    In autumn 2006 Alexander Kuljabin invited Alexander Zykov, the skilled master, whose works are well-known to all Siberia, to a position of head director.

    From 2004 to 2008 a great reconstruction of the theatre building was carried out. All rooms were completely renovated, overhead covers changed; historical features given back to interior and exterior of the theatre, both stages were equipped by modern technical equipment.

    Within two last years Alexander Kuljabin has been delivering series of lectures "Organization of theatrical business" at Novosibirsk state theatrical.

    Alexander Kuljabin is a head and an author of the idea of the First inter-regional festival "Novo-Siberian Transit" (since 2010).
