    J. Bordonov «Moliere»:

«In the year 1602 they are rewarded for their sufferings, everything goes well enough so they can buy a 34 square meters’ site, situated in Belyevaya street, near the Tanning Market.

They will build a house here. First floor is occupied by the butcher’s shop and a room. Each upper floor is occupied by two bedrooms. There is a well and two vaults in the cellar. The sign „In the accompaniment of St. Veronica’s sacred image“ is creaking over the door. Tireless Moliere’s Grandma will „ascend the throne“ in this house and here she will give birth to eight children and will raise them as she can».

This piece of Moliere’s family chronicle inspired the director to create his own interpretation of «Tartuf» — the most famous dramatist’ play.

The residents huddle with all the household, complex manufacture and rather numerous number of people in 34 square meters (it’s equal to a modern one-room apartment area!)…Why don’t we pretend that Moliere character’s psychology is similar to that one of «abuzz populous hive»? Why don’t we suppose these solid talkative bourgeois are the copies of Moliere’s relatives? Let’s pretend Orgon is the owner of a profitable butcher’s shop in Paris. The main intrigue is developing here between luxurious delicacies and the carcasses. All the rows and disagreements, love and financial conflicts will get new shades of meaning here.

If the classics is inviolable for You, if You value the tradition, if the most important thing in the play for you is that it should copy the original, please, you better don’t visit this play!

The director shook the dust off the masterly text; he threw away all the powdered wigs and lacy collars. Classical play hasn’t become a new one, but it started «to breathe» in "moliere’s way«- coolly, recklessly, cheerfully.

    Andrei Prikoptenko:

    — Our play explores the Human’s Nature; the nature of human’s hypocrisy. And, I hope, we do it with humor and excitement. Nowadays not the spectator (tress) should correspond himself (herself) to the theatre but vice versa, the form of the play should correspond to changed spectator’s perception.

All the characters of the play are constantly talking about high moral substances such as good and evil, sin and religion. We came to the conclusion that it would be interesting to turn the family that easily dwells upon spiritual notions, into the butcher’s family. Don’t you think that confrontation of powerful spirituality and butcher’s shop brings in a humorous charge by itself?

The music used in the play:

    • Jean-Marc Zelwer («Arabian Nights», «Jalouka», «Les Tresars du Vatican», «Javavite», "J’m’en Balance«, «Zuerelle Biblique», "L’âmes en Va«, «Eden»).
    • Rene Aubry («Prima Donna»).
    • Jean-Louis Murat («Le Temps Qu Il Ferait», «Petit Luge»).
    • Kenji Kawaii («Voyage to Avalon», «The Ghost Hunting»).
    • Goran Bregovich («Dreams»).
    • К. Kislovsky (Symphony № 5, the final part; 1 inclusion — but which one!!!).
